To All the Hagerman’s- I am so very sorry to hear about your Dads passing. He was such a kind, caring and welcoming human! What’s so crazy is I was just talking about Dave w a past pingree parent and she echoed all the same sentiments about him as the head of school. I am truly sad to hear this news. Sending much love to all💕💔

Dear Casey and family,
I was so saddened to learn of the passing of your beloved father. His legacy as an educator and coach will not be forgotten nor his kindness and huge heart. I have such fond memories of Mr. Hages while at Hotchkiss. My deepest condolences at this difficult time. Sending a hug. Xoxo Michele

I have to share this event. I was helping Kully with lacrosse at Babson one practice and out of the blue Dave tackles me from behind. We talked but had to stay focused on practice. Next I look up and Dave is in one of the lacrosse cages on the field with a goalie stick and the play is coming towards him, he’s got no equipment on. The player takes a shot and plunk directly in the middle of Dave’s forehead, my trainer instincts kick in and I’m sprinting to him worried what I’m going to find as he’s laying on the ground. When I get there he says “ just wanted to see if you could still run Scotty” never a dull moment with him. Great man, Dad and coach. Lots of people are better because they were taught, coached or mentored by Dave.

One of the best men I’ve ever known. Genuine, principled, and compassionate. His heart and optimism were beyond measure. In battle, I want him in my foxhole. Love you, Hagey!

Casey and Hagerman family, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I never met Mr. Hagerman, but I’m a firm believer that you will know the tree by it’s fruit; and Casey and Jake are two remarkable people. May God’s strength carry you all.

Hagie was my most respected mentor at Salisbury. I learned so much about the honor, respect, competition, and integrity that comes with teaching and coaching young people. He makes me a better teacher/coach every day.

I was very sadden to hear the news of Mr. Hagermans passing. He was a larger than life figure from my days at Salisbury. He was firm but fair. There was never a doubt about what his expectations of you were. My condolences to his family.

I miss running into Dave after trips bringing kids to the Skiway or stopping by if I saw some sap boiling. The old arch he gave to me years ago is still in use and has since been passed on. My sincere condolences.

Dave & I met in the SAE fraternity at UNH. He always had a smile on his face, and such a positive attitude. He was respected by everyone in our brotherhood.

So sorry to learn of Dave's passing. We became close friends many years ago as independent school administrators and old "hockey pucks". We actually worked together at the Philadelphia Hockey Training School for a few summers and the Bowdoin College Clinic as well. We would stay in touch over the years with an occasional phone call or a chance meeting in a rink or on a lacrosse field as inveterate fans. I loved his wry sense of humor and honest friendship.

The Raeder family so saddened by this news. Cap loved his time spent with Dave in the hockey world, especially at the Bowdoin Clinics. Lots of laughs❣️ Plus he was a goalie!

I was deeply saddened to read of Dave’s passing. Dave and I started together in the Athletic Office at Deerfield, my job being his secretary; and for ten years he always made me feel I was working with him, not for him. Dave was a wonderful person and super boss. My sincerest condolences to his wife and children.

I was very saddened to hear of your loss of this great man. It's hard to put into words the impact that Hag's had on so many young men over the years at Salisbury - to say that his legacy will live on is an understatement.

I bumped into the Hagerman's last in Hanover, NH at a hockey tournament 5 years ago.... yep, on Saint Patrick's Day at an Irish Pub. I was there with my son's Pee Wee hockey team-- I look over and see Hag's having a nice dinner with his wife in his green sweater in the bar area... I couldn't believe it. He was my coach, teacher, and one of my mentors and he's sitting in the same bar with me and my team 20 years later... He hadn't changed a bit... we had a couple beers, told some stories, and snapped a bunch of pics with the boys. And as he said he would do, he dragged his wife to the rink the next morning to watch our boys play... we always tell the boys that the game is about the lessons that you learn and the relationships that you build-- Coach Hag's taught us all that. He'll be greatly missed, but will continue to guide us to try to do things the right way as our journey continues.

All the way from being hockey teammates at Deerfield (1964) to catching up with each other in crazy places and in crazy times, there was never a dull moment and all of those moments were filled with laughter. Bunger, we are gonna miss you. You touched so many lives in a most positive way. Keep your head up.

I may have already signed this, but will sign again just in case. It is unbelievable that David Hagerman, and his good friend David Hinman, (my husband), also from Holderness School, have each passed away within such a short time of each other. May they be icing up a rink somewhere in the great beyond, and keeping their skates good and sharp. They will both me missed very deeply, and I send my love to the Hagerman family.

Deborah Ohler Hinman - (Acworth, NH)

So saddened to hear that we lost Dave. I was his locker room buddy at Dartmouth and thoroughly enjoyed our banter over the years. In fact, Dave's story about his sheep being attacked by a (possibly) rabid skunk, helped inspire a column I wrote for The Valley News about "Dark Secrets Of The Men's Locker Room". Truly a great guy whose presence will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences.

I am saddened to learn of you Dad's passing. He was my hockey coach for my PG year at Deerfield Academy. He was more than a coach - he was kind and supportive and he genuinely cared....He was the most decent of men! I am very sorry for your loss.
